For the Spring
For the November/December session dancers:
We are studying Turkish Oriental dance, or bellydance. We can choose to spend more time on upbeat Turkish pop, classic old bellydance music, slow, sensual chiftetellis, or the karsilama. Powerful strutting, turning, and snaky arm movements are highlights of the Turkish Oriental style. We will include some Romani (Gypsy) music and movements which can be incorporated in bellydance. Veil and or finger cymbals (zils) will be used, and learning a 9/8 rhythm will be included. I have a lot of zils and veils for the borrowing, and if you have your own, please bring them!
